Tougher than You: Adriane Wilson’s Journey from Cancer to World Champion [Ep 12, Season 2]

[Show Notes]

In 2003, Adriane Wilson was on the edge of big things. She was poised to graduate college with a four year degree, consistently ranked in the top three or four throwers in the US, and was a favorite for the 2004 Olympic team in Greece, until she found out she had Hodgkins Lymphoma. Listen as one of the strongest women in the country talks about going from training for the Olympics to chemotherapy to becoming a 5x World Champion in the Highland Games.

We talk about her journey working with Charles Poliquin and getting back to the Olympic Trials (placing fifth while declaring remission!), moving to Arizona and training under Olympic medalist John Godina, then to becoming one of the top Highland Games athletes in the world. We also ask Adriane for her take on women in strength sports to what the future holds for female athletes. We’re digging in on this one and loving what she has to say.

You can find Adriane and her wealth of guidance at Athlete’s Arena in Irmo, SC or Fit413. PlayAgain /// ig: @AdriSue
